What I learned from 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿 Today 🎙️
I just finished listening to:
𝗣𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁: The Analytics Power Hour with Andy Cotgreave
𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲: #280: Dashboards Must Die! Long Live Dashboards!
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆
AI isn't going to replace dashboards anytime soon. The real problem isn't the technology. It's messy data, unclear ownership, and broken processes. Andy pointed out something wild: back in 1914, people were already complaining that just collecting data doesn't solve problems. Over a century later, we're still stuck on the same issue.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀
If you think AI is about to automate your entire analytics workflow, think again. The bottleneck isn't what the tech can do. It's getting five people to agree on what "active users" means, tracking down who owns which dataset, and stitching together systems that were never meant to talk to each other.
𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🧠
This resonated hard. I've lost hours chasing down data owners and fixing mismatched fields that no one documented properly. Andy's advice to focus on augmentation instead of automation makes sense. Let AI handle the repetitive stuff, but don't expect it to magically fix organizational chaos. That part's still on us.
