Turn off autocomplete and AI code suggestions when you're learning. Write the code yourself first. Once you know how things work, then turn the assistants back on to boost productivity.

In finance and data science, understanding the logic behind your code matters more than speed at the start. If you rely on autocomplete too early, you miss the fundamentals that help you debug, optimize, and build confidence in your work.

This reminded me of when I first learned Python for financial modeling. I leaned on suggestions too much and hit a wall when things broke. Now I tell juniors the same thing: learn it the hard way first, then let the tools help you fly.
